Last week we had some very unusual visitors in school. Mr Roberts, along with his Viking friends from Shetland, treated us to an assembly none of us will forget in a hurry. We learned all about the famous Up Helly Aa festivals and the islands’ Viking heritage. We got shown the authentic shields, helmets, weapons and clothes that the men and women made for the celebrations – some of us even got to give the weapons a hold!
The school would like to give a big ‘thank you!’ to our visitors for such a memorable experience!
